Born and raised in Brazil, Raffi (they/them) is a one-person design studio with focus on social justice and branding. They are a queer, trans, bi-racial Arab immigrant who can speak 7 languages! (Design is communication in many ways.) With over 12 years of experience, they have been delivering designs for both the corporate and nonprofit worlds and are passionate about helping shape a better world.

Belonging in the World

Six faces, distinct yet in quiet dialogue, are held within a shared globe. Not as a comprehensive index of people of color, but as a conscious interruption of white supremacy’s image of who the world centers and who it remembers. The globe envelops the figures like a warm hug, a sense of belonging. It is also a reminder that what we do, how we act, can affect communities in other countries. The composition does not claim to resolve the tensions of representation. The world spins and the positioning is in continuous flow and change.

Three stories, three paths: walking, leaping, resting. Each stands on a strong foundational pillar of their own, that represents stability, needs being met, the important elements each needs. Safety nets stretched across the gaps are the extra security ever present in the world I imagine is equitable to people of color. What would it mean to trust that we will be held mentally, physically, spiritually, financially, socially, politically?
